This week I completed an ecommerce project for American Natural & Organic Spices at Spicely.com. This is a personal milestone for me since it is my first shopping cart. It was great working once again with Mr. John Chansari, General Manager of Spicely.

For this project we chose open-source software. The screenshot below shows the store's category browse page. In the picture, you can see the Search box, shopping cart, Categories menu, breadcrumbs, and a list of the products within the category. It's not much to look at "out of the box," but it's a nice little ecommerce solution.

Please visit the new store at http://spicely.com/store. A blog for the website is in the works. And I'm developing a Twitter account for Spicely (@spicelyorganic) which already has over 100 followers.

site-thumbnailThis week I completed a design/hosting project for Ulearn International, a work-study abroad program in China. It was a pleasure to work with Ms. Joanna Zheng, the program director. For this project we chose RocketTheme's "Crystalline" template. Ms. Zheng provided the articles for the site, as well as photos of the university in China. She also had some great suggestions for the website! Thanks, Joanna! Please visit Ulearn International and check out the features.

This week the new UniversityInvestments.com mortgage broker website went live. This job was a refurbish of their existing site. I worked with Mr. Rod Mann, founder of University Investments. I also got a lot of excellent design suggestions from Mr. Neil Salem, a loan consultant at University Investments.

For this job, we wanted a simple brochure-type site that also had elements of larger competitor sites. I did this by adding a number of "bells and whistles" (mortgage calculator widget, Google Map, contact form, slideshow), condensed a lot of existing content and added a few new pages. I also added a video stream (several home-buying videos from YouTube).

I really like the current them which is RocketTheme's Crystalline. I'm glad I got the chance to use it again. This template is so versatile and attractive!

organic-spices-screenshotThis week Foothill Web Design completed work on the OrganicSpices.com website for Mr. John Chansari, General Manager of American Natural & Organic Spices. This is my second project for Mr. Chansari, following Spicely.com. It was great to work with John and the Spicely crew again.

For this project we chose the Joomla content management system (CMS) running RocketTheme's Infuse template. We added the Acajoom newsletter component, a fully automated email list.

The OrganicSpices.com project is a refurbish of an existing website. Mr. Chansari was careful to preserve the flavor of the old site. My goal stylistically was to create a seamless transition from the old to the new. Thanks to everyone at American Natural & Organic Spices for being so wonderful and easy to work with!
